Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage places tidy and to pile up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck can be utilized. The reach truck is available in several models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is usually utilized. This particular model consists of telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in many directions. This model is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Normally more than one type of reach truck is required in warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms utilize various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to operate and can make the most of available storage space while increasing production.
