Forklifts are vehicles usually found inside factories, warehouses and other work locations where it is necessary to move heavy materials from one location to another. The mast is the mechanism located on the front of the forklift that hydraulically lowers and lifts the load. The "cat" is the area that is protected where the driver of the forklift sits.
Forklifts can carry loads which weigh between one to five tons. Various types can be utilized to carry shipping containers and much heavier loads.
Forklift tires should be checked and maintained on a regular basis. The types of tires on various forklifts differ based on factors such as load weights, ground surfaces and frequency of use. Each and every forklift operator must have access to replacement tires, a forklift jack and tire press.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
You must frequently inspect the tires. Watch for signs of damage and wear to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40%, it must be replaced.
When purchasing tires, make sure that you are purchasing the correct kind - polyurethane, solid or pneumatic.
When the tire needs replacing, position the forklift jack under the tire and raise the forklift high enough that you can change the tires easily.
You could use the tire press to pull the tire from the rim and remove the damaged tire. Install the new tire and secure it properly. If you are changing more than one tire and you only have one jack, lower the forklift, and afterward reposition the jack at the next tire.
A repair company could provide on-site tire repair. If the tire is too big for both mobile and in-house tire presses, the tire that is damaged should be transported to a shop which has a stationary tire press.
