The forklift is an essential piece of machinery in most businesses which operate warehouses, distribution centers, industrial and storage handling facilities. This great equipment, the forklift is made of many parts, such as the essential carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Forklifts generally have various kinds of attachments as well. The following are a few of the most essential components of a forklift.
Engine of the Lift Truck - At the rear of the equipment, the forklift has its power source. The different types of engine on the forklift would require varying power sources. Like for instance, a forklift with an internal combustion engine could have any of the following as its power source: diesel, gasoline, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Truck Frame - The frame of the truck is the base of the forklift and the most vital of all the lift truck parts. This forms the equipment's core. All other lift truck components are attached to the base, like the overhead guard, counterweight, mast, wheels and axles. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks could be part of the frame assembly as well.
Counterweight Lift Truck Components - While carrying heavy cargo, the counterweight enables the machine to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes attached to the rear of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the truck frame so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck provides balance and may work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the machinery. Several lift trucks have a cab area that is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are many parts situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such essential components like the seats, pedals, switches, levers, steering wheel and operator controls. The dashboard has operator readouts.
