Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial machinery designed with a straight boom arm that is extendable. The boom is typically located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are typically used for jobs that need tasks to be carried out at heights which exceed other kinds of lifts. Like for instance, workers are able to perform exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but using these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold a single individual. These buckets are better suited to specific tasks like for instance electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts come in electric and gas configurations and are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Below the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machine gets its name. Once the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these machines should be positioned directly beneath the work location, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, however, provide larger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface when the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these kinds of equipment, because they have to sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for window installation or cladding, as they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle usually used to raise personnel for different tasks done at heights. Typically, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the worker can stand in addition to an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for carrying.
Boom trucks take workers to heights that would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy materials or equipment from one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types that could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different kinds of equipment excel at different tasks and are great for certain applications and accomplishing certain jobs.
